Breadth and Balance

Our curriculum provides a broad range of experience for our children. Their backgrounds, our culture and our climate for learning provide the following drivers that under pin all areas of our curriculum:

Possibility:   Through our work, we expect all of our children to aspire to become confident individuals, sure of the definite service God has created each to do. 

Opportunity:   Through engagement with our local communities and environment we develop the disposition for learning of our children. The way in which our curriculum is enriched and supported is, we believe, an essential aspect of creating both a connectedness between persons within the diverse family of Holy Trinity and a celebration of our uniqueness. 

The Arts:   The children of Holy Trinity use the arts to enable and develop communication across the curriculum. Education using the arts is an integral part of the development of each human being, developing neural systems that produce a broad spectrum of benefits ranging from fine motor skills to creativity and improved emotional balance.

Culture and Values:   We seek to promote self-esteem, motivation, creativity, improved emotional expression, as well as social harmony and appreciation of diversity. We believe that cultural exposure, both to the home experiences of our children and to the wider values held in the foundations of British society are crucial to that work. Through a celebration of our shared Gospel values and the appreciation of difference our school family will connect to each other deeply. A key part of our work is to ensure our children become valuable and fully rounded members of society who treat others with respect and tolerance, regardless of background. We promote the basic British and Gospel values in order to foster learners’ understanding of the importance of respect, prepared for the next steps in the education journey in modern Britain.

Our curriculum provides appropriate balance. We believe that all children should feel confident in their own abilities and should experience the feeling of success in a wide range of areas. Our curriculum therefore gives our children an excellent mix of academic and personal development; gives equal importance to core and foundation subjects; physical and mental well-being are both valued, understood and prioritised by our careful consideration of curriculum design. We carefully balance the requirement for pupils to reach national expectations in core subjects with our wider curriculum aims of providing a full spectrum of thoughtful and enriching experiences. As a school we believe that the human intellect “draws from many wells” and we reach into those to support the learning of our children. We aim to nurture well rounded children, capable of confident individuality, possessing a wide range of skills. We offer deep learning about the things that matter the most: many of these, our Gospel values, placing Christ at the Centre of our learning.

We offer a thoughtful range of experiences that support our culture: our children enjoy a full spectrum of academic, physical, spiritual, moral, social, vocational and cultural activities that enrich their lives and give them the confidence and skills for a fulfilled and happy life. As a result, our pupils thrive.
